See I think this is more in line with a Sociopath. A Sociopath is more aware that they are doing socially illegal things in order to hurt someone.
ReplyDeleteWhere a Narcissist just will do anything to get attention and admiration, including hurt you. However, the intent is not primarily to go after you, whereas a sociopath is out to hurt primarily.
I agree, this is certainly a sociopathic person, and I should have said as much. I would like to add though, that all sociopaths are extremely narcissistic by nature. That is why this guy feels entitled to destroy anyone who crosses him in any way. If he's this bad now, I'm sure it won't be long before he has no one left that cares about him in the least due to his behavior. He will get exactly what he deserves in the end- loneliness.
ReplyDeleteI should amend my statement, a sociopath does not care if they hurt you (in fact it is totally justifiable to them), and intends to use one as a means to an end.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that sociopaths and narcissists overlap. I think the differences in the terms are interesting, and help (those of us who live with someone like this) narrow down exactly what it is about a person that disturbs us.
When you are trained from a young age to "accept" certain behaviors, it is hard to recognize those behaviors as wrong or what the full out consequences of those behaviors have been.
Narcissists hurt people through their callous indifference. This guy waged a calculated vendetta against his neighbor. I agree with the previous commenters that he's likely a sociopath or even a psychopath (most of them don't actually kill people - just their spirits). But both of these disorders also have narcissism in common. Sounds like this guy was really "The Sociopath Next Door!"
